About

I was born and raised in England and eventually immigrated to Canada in 1999. I settled in Ottawa for 5 years and studied Web Development at Algonquin College.

In 2004 I moved to Toronto, where I worked for 13 years as a digital accessibility specialist, web developer, and content writer at George Brown College.

In 2015 I began researching digital accessibility best practices in order to familiarize faculty and staff with the topic. This resulted in my developing and facilitating training modules for creating accessible documents, including the production of post-training resources such as video tutorials for remediating PDFs.

My calm, patient approach towards training ensures that participants leave the sessions with a solid understanding of how to create accessible — or remediate non-compliant — documents, as required by both Federal and Provincial legislation in Canada.

My credentials include certification in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Central Lancashire; eBusiness Web Development from Algonquin College; Adult Learning Fundamentals, Learning Needs Assessments, and Learning Facilitation and Delivery from George Brown College.

In 2020 I relocated to Victoria, B.C., which is where I currently reside.

In my spare time, I like to roam the city on foot or by bike, taking photos along the way and blogging every now and then.
