We’re positively sweltering here in Toronto today, with the temperature at a balmy -3° and with a thick, fresh blanket of snow everywhere. After a week of having the thermometer hover around the -27° mark, with the wind chill factored in, it certainly makes for a welcome change. It’s easy enough to handle such low temperatures, as long as you’re wearing appropriate clothing. My parka does a great job at keeping me warm on the way to work, but (given that the coat is a three quarter length) the “me” that does keep warm happens to be the upper part of my body only, so my legs were freezing this last week as I walked to work!
I can’t complain, though – at least I have a roof over my head. On the way to the office I see homeless people sleeping in makeshift bedding, lying on top of subway vents to make the most of the warm air rising from below. I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like for them…
